EOC Week 10: Features vs Benefits
For the most part, chocolate IS chocolate, that’s just how it is. The trick with creating chocolate products is of course trying to make and create a new feel and twist on such a classic product that has been around since forever. A key to making a new twist and feel is definitely knowing how to make the best of what you have and what you can work with. For instance, with Duos, the simple benefit is that you of course get your chocolatey fix, BUT the key feature is that it mixes two separate types of chocolate and blends them together to make new flavor combinations. Benefits are clearly something that customers want in products, it doesn’t matter what it is. “A market-oriented firm defines its business in terms of the benefits its customers seek” (Pg. 10). Features on the other hand, are just simply reasons why your product will stand above the rest and how those features will make consumers choose yours over the other competing brands. “A competitive advantage is a set of unique features of a company and its products” (Pg. 23). Features of course depends on whether or not you have a product or a service such as the UFC Gym; “the UFC Gym features standard fitness equipment, a cafĂ©, and signature classes like Hot Hula and Hi-Octane Conditioning” (Pg. 96). Now, because of these unique features, certain people and people that are interested in those services or anything like that will flock towards the UFC gym because of the convenience of having all these features altogether. Features against benefits are extremely important to take in mind because when really looking for a product that we want/need, it’s crucial to really know what we are looking for

EOC Week 9: Social Media
EVERYONE uses social media nowadays, it’s just simply the best form of entertainment and the best way to connect and keep in touch with others. Knowing this, I know that social media is the absolute best way to promote my business and to promote Duos as a whole to the world. I plan on going about this by implementing discount codes depending on the social media program/site. For instance, a discount code would be associated with the hashtag #DuosInstagram for white chocolate with milk chocolate center Duos ONLY. The same will be implemented with #DuosFacebook for milk chocolate with dark chocolate Duos ONLY and so forth. “Social media may be teeming with hashtags now but its power cannot be underestimated. Its usefulness can be seen by how information is spread and how it aids online searches” (http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/hashtag-tools-for-marketing/). By implementing this system of utilizing hashtags to promote Duos, I believe that it will definitely get the name of Duos out to the general public and of course to all chocolate lovers out there especially. “Using hashtags goes beyond casually plugging them into your tweets and posts” (http://keyhole.co/blog/5-valuable-hashtag-marketing-strategies-proven-to-engage-audiences/). One does not necessarily have to know this exact fact to know that hashtags are everywhere. On popular social media sites/outlets such as Facebook and Twitter, there are sections where it literally tells you what topics and hashtags are trending, and it doesn’t take a special link to get there, it’s practically right in your face. “Winners, a popular Canadian apparel store, uses #WinnersFabFinds across all social channels. Both catchy and unique, Winners promotes the brand hashtag both online and in-store” (http://keyhole.co/blog/5-valuable-hashtag-marketing-strategies-proven-to-engage-audiences/). So with these discount codes consumers can use for different types of Duos, it encourages people to search up these hashtags with their respective sites and what respective type of Duos the discount will be applied for. As an example as someone who has never quite used Twitter before, if I found out that my favorite type of Duos or just the type of Duos that I would like to try or that I am curious about had a specific discount code ONLY for Twitter users, I would just make a Twitter to be able to obtain the discount code for those type of Duos that I would like to taste. It wouldn’t involve anything else, but just participation with the hashtag for the respective site. To push the social media advertising for Duos even further, I would also request that the user would also follow/like our Duos social media pages to push the discount up by 5% so the total discount price one would get from participating with Duos on social media would be a 30% total discounted price on Duos.

EOC Week 8: Creative Content
How I plan on carrying out the vision of “Duos”, originally I wanted to make a commercial emphasizing the joy and excitement as well as the flavors that I would want my consumers to feel and experience “Duos” themselves, but I thought how could I properly portray the true uniqueness of “Duos” in a commercial if I don’t have the product handy? I have come to the conclusion of showing how the packaging of “Duos” will look in terms of its own presentation and first impressions from the very design of the packaging itself because we all know that the most flashy of designs and packaging definitely grabs the attention of consumers, no matter who you are. I’ll start by brainstorming and browsing for ideas on how I feel would properly give off the uniqueness of “Duos” with the bag/package shape first, because I feel that if it’s in a regular plain container such as a box then it wouldn’t compliment the nature of the design that I will be brewing up. Next, I would want to start with the layout of points of interests, where I would place certain colors or where I would especially place the picture of the “Duo’s” themselves. I want to go for a very sleek design that would catch the attention of young adults, but also be pleasing to the eyes of the elderly. Regardless of whether or not they would board with the idea of “Duos”, it would be great just knowing that they saw the packaging and was curious as well as intrigued by the very design and would be very tempted the pick up the package and look for themselves. I feel that if I can capture the unique feel and twist of “Duos” starting with the package design, then I would already, in a sense make consumers already have a certain and curious taste of “Duos” themselves.

EOC Week 7: My Pitch
There are many different types of chocolates out there in the world today, but I wanted to focus on the basics; milk chocolate, white chocolate and dark chocolate. Everyone on Earth has their own preference on which type of chocolate they like, but sometimes it’s hard to just choose one. I propose a new way to have your chocolate fix while satisfying people’s unique taste buds when they want to enjoy more than one type of chocolate, I call them; Duos. In the mood for more than just milk chocolate? Or perhaps you’re craving white AND dark chocolate at the same time? Well, with Duos you can satisfy both cravings at once! These special chocolate truffles will feature an outer layer of milk, white or dark chocolate, while the inner layer, or center will be either again, milk, white or dark chocolate. Once consumed, these snack-sized truffles will blend both chocolates in a harmonious fashion all while you’re enjoying yourself on a chocolatey charter to euphoria! Our bags of Duos will feature the many different combinations, or if you’re feeling adventurous, we will also be selling variety bags so you’ll be in for a different chocolatey experience after each one you pick up to eat. As the progression of this idea and project progress, feedback is obviously very much welcomed, of course as well as ideas and other potential changes to future or existing products. Social Media sites for Duos will of course be provided for me to talk and communicate with curious followers or to accept feedback as well as to keep all future fans updated for what’s to come in the future of Duos. I believe that chocolate should always be enjoyed in various ways, and i definitely hope that Duos can bring that fresh and new spin on traditional chocolate truffles.

Week 6 EOC: Me x3
Everyone has things that they have that they believe properly represent them as individuals, for starters it could simply be their phone or mobile device since everyone has one. A few things I consider to make me who I am and what represents me in general aren’t complicated at all.
This here are the Astro Gaming A30 headphones. The Astro Gaming brand in general I feel represent me perfectly because they are obviously a video gaming brand, but with these headphones, I feel it represents three different aspects that are huge in my life. One of them would simply be my love of music, my taste in music ranges from 90’s hip-hop/rap to Metal and everything in between. Along with the video game aspect this brand represents as well as the “Urban” theme with the interchangeable headphone plates available for this model.
This, I feel is the most important piece of who I am. This is a San Jose Sharks jersey which of course reflects that I was born and raised for 19 years, San Jose California. Not only do I constantly wear San Jose Sharks gear to let everyone know that San Jose my hometown, but also for my love of hockey. I love sports in general, but hockey is definitely my favorite out of all of them. I also like buying blank jerseys with no players on them because when I have the money for it, I get it customized with my last name and number on it as well to amplify my love for this team and city.
This, obviously is the Playstation 4 which is of course the newest console of the Playstation chain. This is important and properly represents me simply because of my absolute LOVE for video games, and while nothing can beat the classics such as the original Super Mario Bros, Contra, or Punch Out! It’s always a blast to stay updated with what’s been going on in the gaming industry. Reason being I have chosen this picture specifically is because I have this same exact bundle, the White Playstation console and controller accompanied by Destiny, a game that I myself always enjoy playing in my spare time. Video games have always (and I mean ALWAYS) been there for me since childhood to now so it definitely describes who I am as an individual.

Week 5 EOC: This is What Has My Interest
https://twitter.com/AMBernales/status/761088471695921152 This has my interest simply because I never thought I’d see the day that a robot would write a script of its own, let alone a “perfect” one as said in the article. I don’t have difficulty myself when it comes to writing scripts, but to know that a good one was written by Artificial Intelligence just simply amazes me and makes me wonder what else could lie ahead for technology. Technology is rising, no doubt about that, but to see it progress this much is simply astonishing. This could also quite possibly be good for directors or producers if they would need an extra writer.
https://twitter.com/AMBernales/status/758536161832738817 This has my interest because when one has to think about a location to shoot for a project or movie they have going on, it just goes to show that there are definitely places out there wherever you are, you just need to explore and look around you. Simply something that I need to take in consideration as well is the fact that just by simply exploring you could run into some sweet areas where the lighting hits just right at a certain angle, or especially with whatever is around it maybe some trees, a wall with awesome art on it, or maybe even a public area that may feature an awesome point of interest.
https://twitter.com/AMBernales/status/758538054403444736 This has my interest because adding special effects and movie magic to edits can definitely be a tricky task, especially if you don’t really know how to pull off certain effects, and while this is true for all VFX programs, some of the best ones have some sort of price tag on them and that of course could very well get in your way when it comes to having a low budget or simply just for inde work. Having a free program means more than just saving money for you, but it of course also means that the potential to learn a new technique is definitely possible through how the User Interface presents itself within a new program. A new program to use is like a new door of possibilities and learning to be found and utilized

EOC Week 3: My Demographic
The certain age group demographic that I would fall into would be the Millennials which would mean “people born between 1979 and 1994” (Pg. 54). Knowing of all the different ways that Millennials are described as, I can safely say that I do as well fit in within this age group, despite being born 1995. “Sixty-six percent of Millennials around the world use Facebook” (Pg. 51) which of course I can definitely relate to, as going on Facebook is something I do daily. I can definitely get a feel for these defining factors of being a Millennial, not only because I was born 1995, but because I can see the same distinctions from my siblings as well as my close friends and certain colleagues. Along with going on Facebook every day, I also relate to the fact that Millennials are also the “most tech-savvy generation yet” (Pg. 55) despite certain people I know who aren’t interested in today’s tech at all. Another point I relate to is the fact that “Millennials who shop online for apparel rely on price” (Pg. 55). Now while that may be true, pricing isn’t just something I turn my attention to, I of course also look into if I really NEED this certain product which may be priced higher than I expected, but when it comes to a low price on a product, that’s when the quote holds true. Being close to this age group definitely makes me feel some sense of belonging because I have related to all the characteristics so far to some degree or another, as well as knowing who also share these same characteristics. I’m sure in more research, I can find some assumptions of Millennials that I wouldn’t be proud of, but more than likely be true considering the other facts that have hit home for me.
EOC Week 4: My New App
Having a passion in video production, a huge problem that tends to screw up fellow filmmakers and producers is the problem of not seeing a clear difference between what we’ve recorded on the camera screen, as opposed to if it were to be seen on a more prominent monitor screen or projector. The color and white balance would be just fine on the camera screen, but once it would get brought into a monitor or projector, it would be way off and it could potentially jeopardize your entire project. My solution is an app on your smartphone that would basically allow you to view your footage without having to carry a giant monitor with you called the “ScreenAssist”. Once the app is downloaded, you will be able to connect it with your camera using an HDMI adapter and the other end will plug straight into your phone, from there you can start up the app and let the connection take place. Another handy feature on the app is the ability to edit the raw footage straight from your phone; adjust the white balance, contrast, temperature, you name it. The app wouldn’t cost anything, but of course you would have to purchase the HDMI adapter from our site, or if you happen to have your own adapter then you are free to use it. The mission behind the development of ScreenAssist is to help out filmmakers and producers in freeing the issue of not properly viewing your footage before bringing it into editing or even after that, but fo those who already have a monitor, they tend to be big, bulky, or they just take up a lot of space and really, it is very irritating. ScreenAssist will forever be the most important and handy video apps you will ever download into your smartphone.

EOC Week 3: Making Money for Good
Speaking from my own personal view and experience, I learned about nonprofit organizations first before for-profit companies, and of course putting two and two together, it’s obvious to see that both of them go hand in hand when it comes to helping the unfortunate which now I know as “cause-related marketing”. “Cause-related marketing the cooperative marketing efforts between a for-profit firm and a nonprofit organization” (Pg. 45). Diving deeper within learning about for-profit companies, I saw that big-name companies partner with other companies to simply help the less fortunate. A great well-known example of this type of partnership would be between the Livestrong foundation and the sports-wear giant Nike who “...sold more than 80 million Livestrong bracelets for cancer research” (Pg. 45).
A definite group of people to point out is a group called Games Done Quick, which is so because they don’t exactly have a product to offer, but they hold two huge annual events, one in the Winter called Awesome Games Done Quick and the other in the Summer properly named Summer Games Done Quick which feature different people “Speedrunning” video games which is the act of completing a certain video game with the fastest time they could produce. For each event they choose an organization to partner with and help their cause for example, their last event was Summer Games Done Quick 2016 was partnered with Doctors Without Borders which send doctors and medical professionals around the world to regions that are affected by epidemics, disasters or conflicts. They were extremely successful this year coming in at a final total of 1.3 million dollars. Nonprofit organizations of course strive and live off of overwhelming support from whatever fanbase they are targeting with each partnership. “...although they use other terms, such as fees, donations, tuition, fares, fines, or rates” (Pg. 218).

Week 2 EOC: Boston Consulting Group - Video Games
The video game market is definitely an interesting market to always be aware of and to always look out for, simply because although video game trends tend to be the same or similar, it’s always and constantly changing more than people would normally think. When it comes to video games, big-name and independent developers alike are trying to think of new ways to engage players into their games mainly in the form of new twists and gimmicks within a certain game attempting to bring something fresh into the world of video gaming. With mobile games on the constant rise, it is likely that they will become a definite staple within the gaming community than just a “casual” experience. “For the first time, mobile gaming will take a larger share than PC with $36.9 billion, up 21.3% globally” (https://newzoo.com/insights/articles/global-games-market-reaches-99-6-billion-2016-mobile-generating-37/). Another point towards the video game industry constantly changing would be the rising surge of “Esports” which is of course gaming at the competitive level. Even levels up to the fact that even sports media giant ESPN is even covering Esports regularly now. “Pro-gaming is set to generate upwards of a billion dollars in revenues by 2019, according to research firm Newzoo” (http://time.com/4241977/espn-esports/). Just like what was previously mentioned, video games are always in a flux in terms of what is trending and what is popular, a great way to firmly grasp the ideas of big-name video game developers is to look into E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) which happens annually. E3 is always the most anticipated time of each year for video gamers simply because it is when future video games themselves or even possible consoles or peripherals are announced and it gets the whole gaming community excited for what is to come in the future of the gaming world. A great example of this would be from E3 2016; the fact that gaming giant, SEGA has revealed and confirmed that they have “major news” for Sonic The Hedgehog fans. Despite Sonic The Hedgehog being around for such a long time and having its recent games within the franchise to be massive flops, Sonic is still a major icon within the gaming community and with the fans knowing that Sonic will probably be getting a remake for its 25th anniversary, fans of the old Sonic The Hedgehog games are going nuts for the pure and potential nostalgia. “SEGA has confirmed that it will have some news in store about “Sonic The Hedgehog” (http://www.techtimes.com/articles/164999/20160614/e3-2016-sega-confirmed-to-have-major-news-for-sonic-the-hedgehog-fans-but-dont-get-too-excited.htm).

Week 1 EOC: Great Customer Service
Great customer service lies in the will of the employee to help his/her customers with excellent care and consideration without wasting the time of the customer and/or the employee themself. “The customers’ evaluation of a good or service in terms of whether that good or service has met their needs and expectations…” (Lamb, 8). Great customer service isn’t rare to find, but it’s just taken for granted most of the time. Personally, restaurants are the only places where customer service stands out the most and where it’s easiest to know who truly excels at great customer service. Just recently, my family and I enter a restaurant which is normally known to have staggering amounts of people in attendance eating there, but it was fairly late so there weren’t many people present. As soon as we enter through the main entrance we were instantly greeted by the host standing there with a smile on his face which automatically let me know that he strives to make a good impression of customers he encounters. He then politely tells my family and I to stand in a certain area while we wait to be seated. A few minutes pass by and we were then greeted by the waiter who seated us at our table. Once we were seated, the waiter of course gave us time to look over our menus and informed us that our server will be with us shortly, and he was right. Throughout our experience there that night, my family and I were very well pleased with how well our server took care of us; starting from our drinks to our check, it certainly was a pleasure to have someone as tentative and polite as he was. Customer service still exists just about everywhere you go, with a few exceptions of course, but you’ll know it when you experience it yourself.
Week 1 EOC: My Voice
My very first look into the video industry began as a video project for my English class during my junior year of high school. When my teammates and I started to go through the whole filming process, I began to take the lead with everything from directing the project to editing it afterwards, ever since the day I was given that project I knew that the video industry was something that I wanted to be a part of. So now I continue to demonstrate my abilities and skills through of course, the content that I put out with my heart and soul along with it. My slight experience with motion graphics, I believe puts me at a definite advantage above other film producers because of my ability to be proficient during the shoots and during post-production as well. My flexibility combined with my enthusiasm would definitely prove to be useful in the field. As a kid I have always had the drive to impress people around me with whatever I did. Especially to this day, I strive to pursue the same goal; to “wow” my audiences with my work within this field. I’m not aiming to be the very best film producer/editor, but I just want to be able to impress and inspire others willing to go through the same path as I. I know the path is rough, but this is how great things start.
